Lafayette is located on 15 square miles in Contra Costa County, one of nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area. The City was incorporated in 1968, although settlement of the area began in 1848.

Lafayette is noted for its high quality of life with top rated schools, low crime rate, small-town downtown, clean air, mild climate and oak tree-studded hills. Located between Berkeley and Walnut Creek, Lafayette has its own Bay Area Rapid Transit station (BART) and is only a 25-minute BART ride from San Francisco.

Lafayette is the “La” in Lamorinda, a phrase commonly used when talking about the Tri-Community cities of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda. Lafayette has the beautiful Lafayette Reservoir, part of the East Bay Regional Park District. It is a wonderful place to hike, fish or picnic. The recently revitalized downtown area along Mt. Diablo Boulevard boasts boutiques, shopping, and delightful restaurants, many affording the ability to dine “al fresco” and watch the world go by.

The City of Orinda is a family-oriented community in a semi-rural valley on the east side of the Oakland/Berkeley hills in the San Francisco Bay Area. It offers its population of over 17,500 residents a serene setting in contrast to the more urban existence of the surrounding area.

Orinda is situated immediately east of the Caldecott Tunnel on Highway 24 and is served by a Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) station.

Orinda is the “inda” in LaMorinda, a phrase commonly used to speak of the tri-communities of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda. The tree-studded hillsides of the 12.8 square-mile City contribute to the aesthetic charm of this community. Orinda offers natural beauty including: proximity to Tilden Park, San Pablo Reservoir, Briones Open Space, and Lafayette Reservoir. Well known for its well-educated community, Orinda is consistently ranked as having some of the best schools in California. Well known for low crime, community history, community culture, serenity, and its proximity to San Francisco make Orinda a delightful place in which to live, work and play.

Speaking of culture, Orinda is home to the internationally known California Shakespeare Festival at the Bruns Memorial Amphitheatre. Plus, the historic, art deco Orinda Theater is the cornerstone of Orinda Theater Square, a wonderful combination of shopping, dining and office space in a courtyard setting.

Moraga, the MO in Lamorinda, is known as the “Town at the end of the cul-de-sac”. This 9 square mile family-oriented city is nestled in a valley with hills surrounding it. It is the smallest of the three communities with a population near 15,000 residents. Moraga is home to St. Mary's College of California and the beautiful Hacienda de las Flores, the former Donald Rheem estate. Joaquin Moraga’s adobe can still be seen on a hill above town. Continuing the local area culture, the Moraga Commons Park is the home of Summer Concerts and other activities.
